Buttermilk Biscuits

    Ingredients

    2 cups flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. baking soda
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. sugar
    2 Tbsp. butter, cut in small cubes
    1 cup buttermilk

    Directions

    Mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar and
    salt in a medium bowl.  Cut butter in with a pastry
    blender.  Mix with fingers to blend evenly.  
    Stir in buttermilk with fork and mix until dough just
    comes together.  Add a little extra buttermilk if
    needed.  
    Turn dough out onto floured work surface and pat
    until about 1/2 inch thick.  Cut out biscuits using a
    2 -inch biscuit cutter.
    Place in a greased 9-inch cake pan.
    Bake at 450 degrees until goldenbrown, about 20
    minutes.
    Makes about 10 biscuits.
