Chess Noels

    Ingredients

    3/4 cup butter
    1 1/2 cup sifted flour
    3 Tbsp. sugar
    1 1-lb. box dark brown sugar
    3 eggs, separated
    1 cup chopped nuts
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1 cup powdered sugar

    Directions

    Cream butter.  Add flour and sugar gradually; mix
    well.  Press evenly into 9 x 13-inch pan.  Bake at
    350 for 15 minutes.  
    Mix brown sugar and beaten egg yolks; stir in
    pecans and vanilla.  Fold in stiffly beaten egg
    whites; spread evenly over baked layer.
    Bake for 25 minutes longer.
    Dust with powdered sugar; cool.
    Cut into squares.
