Caramel Bars

    Ingredients

    32 caramels
    3 Tbsp. evaporated milk
    1 cup flour
    1 cup quick oatmeal
    3/4 cup brown sugar
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1/4 tsp. salt
    3/4 cup butter, melted
    6 oz. pkg. chocolate chips
    1/2 cup nuts

    Directions

    Melt caramels with milk in double boiler.  Mix dry
    ingredients and butter.  Spread 1/2 of dry mixture
    into greased 9 x 13-inch pan.  Bake 10 minutes at
    350.  Sprinkle chips and nuts over baked "crust"
    and pour caramel mixture over chips.  Sprinkle
    remaining dry ingredients over all.
    Bake 15 minutes longer.
